So what's it all about then ?
Theatre 48 takes its name from the
year in which it was founded, 1948. We have had several rehearsal venues over
the years and at present we rehearse at Kingslea Primary School, Horsham
(formerly Chesworth).
We present two productions a year
both in the Capitol studio. Rehearsals are normally held on the evenings of
Mondays and Wednesdays, with occasional Fridays.
We have regular Tuesday evening
meetings, currently on the first Tuesday of each month, and a Summer play
reading season. The Tuesday evening meetings might be quizzes, talks, rehearsed
play readings, drama games, poetry readings, etc. These social evenings are open
to all members, acting or non acting and refreshments are on hand.
A monthly newsletter is sent to all
members giving details of forthcoming activities and any matters relevant to the
society from either committee meetings or outside sources.
The society consists of associate
members and full acting members. Full acting members are able to take part in
all aspects of the productions, from directing through to all the back stage
positions - props, costumes, staging, technical, prompt and generally lending a
hand.
As with any dramatic group, no one is
expected to do anything they do not wish. Acting standards vary from those who
are happy to take the lead to those who just like to take on small parts.
